My work as a senior large loss property specialist takes me throughout Iowa, meeting the people who suffer moderate to complex property losses. While I’m working on an investigation, determining coverages, and providing a settlement, my focus is always on developing meaningful relationships with policyholders. It’s part of what we do at Grinnell Mutual.
I have worked in several property claim positions in the insurance industry. Unlike many of the companies I’ve worked for, Grinnell Mutual has a unique connection with the Midwest. Our history with the farm mutual industry is intertwined with Midwest values—values like working together and building long-lasting relationships.
One of our values that I have appreciated as an employee is continuing education. Grinnell Mutual wants us to be our best. The claims management team encouraged me to pursue a master’s degree. They challenged me to apply my classroom knowledge to my everyday work. They even supported me so that I could maintain a work-life balance, too.
Of course, I couldn’t have succeeded without the support of my family, either. They are my priority when I leave the office, so it’s great to work in a family-oriented company. I also enjoy coaching youth sports and competing in team triathlons.
