As an assistant vice president of Reinsurance, I direct the Reinsurance programs and services for Iowa FarMutuals®. My goal is to provide our mutual members with the best reinsurance program, one that is tailored to fit their needs. I feel the most accomplished when I’m working with a mutual manager or one of their agents to solve a coverage question or tackle a problem they’re experiencing.
I began my career with Grinnell Mutual in the early 1990s as a marketing representative, which exposed me to the many facets of our company. Later I was promoted to Director of Production for Personal Lines in Iowa and Wisconsin. Today I’m also responsible for the affiliated liability underwriting in each of the 12 states in which Grinnell Mutual operates. Since I started, Grinnell Mutual has helped me expand my insurance education. I now have five professional insurance designations.
During my time with Grinnell Mutual, I have worked with some of the greatest people - mutual managers, agents, and fellow employees. I enjoy coming to work and being able to work with friends. The people here care about you and your family. I cannot say enough about the people. It’s like a family.
Outside of the office, I’ve enjoyed coaching my kids in their sporting activities. Now I get to watch them play at the high school level. I’m still active in youth sports. I serve as a coach and board member for Marshalltown Little League, Marshalltown Softball Association, and on Marshalltown Parks and Recreation board. When I’m not following my kids’ activities, I enjoy playing golf and relaxing with my wife.
