Steve Crawford, President and Chief Executive Officer of Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, will retire from active service effective immediately due to health concerns. Crawford has served as Grinnell Mutual’s President and CEO for the past two years.

A search for a new president and CEO are currently underway, according to Grinnell Mutual Board of Directors Chairman Dale Bartelt.

In the interim, Crawford’s duties will be performed by a leadership group that includes Vice President of Reinsurance Jim Chambers, Senior Vice President of Underwriting and Production Larry Jansen, Secretary to the Board Kim Pickett and group chairman Senior Vice President of Corporate Services, Secretary, and General Counsel Dennis Day.

During his 35-year career at Grinnell Mutual, Crawford served in a variety of roles: West Central Illinois marketing representative, assistant marketing director, assistant vice president of reinsurance underwriting, regional vice president, senior vice president of the Reinsurance Division, and chief operating officer.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish to thank Steve for his years of dedicated service to our affiliated mutual members and to Grinnell Mutual,” said Bartelt.  “We wish him the very best in his retirement.”
