Directors elected to Grinnell Mutual Board

Affiliated members of Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company elected four board directors during Grinnell Mutual’s 103rd Annual Meeting, held June 28-29 on the Grinnell College Campus.  Those elected to a three-year term include Mark Knouse of White Pigeon Mutual Insurance Association of Wilton, Iowa; Steve Underwood of United Mutual Insurance Company in Washington, Mo.; Bill Lampe of Preston Mutual Insurance Association in Preston, Iowa; and Dale Bartelt of DMC Mutual Insurance Association in Mediapolis, Iowa.

Bartelt was also elected as Chairman of the Board.  He replaces Michael Fordyce, Grinnell Mutual’s longest serving chair.  Fordyce retires after serving 29 years on the board, including 20 years as chair.  Also retiring from the board is Linda Bernhard, who served 22 years.

As board directors, these individuals help make strategic decisions for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, the largest primary reinsurer of farm mutuals in North America.  In business since 1909, Grinnell Mutual provides reinsurance for nearly 300 mutuals in 12 Midwestern states.  The company also offers property and casualty insurance products for homeowners, farmowners, and businessowners through nearly 1,600 independent agents.
