Grinnell chosen to kick off the Healthiest State Initiative: Grinnell Mutual plans company-wide 1k
At 1 p.m. on Friday, September 2, walkers across Grinnell will launch Iowa’s Healthiest State Initiative by joining in a 1k walk. The initiative is sponsored by Governor Terry Branstad to lift Iowa from 19th place to the healthiest state in the U.S. in five years. Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company is proud to announce its participation through a company-wide walk around Dan Agnew Park. Grinnell Mutual’s park is also serving as a public site for community members who wish to participate.
“We’re excited to be one of several local organizations sponsoring the Healthiest State Initiative and look forward to more events over the next five years,” said Julie Augustine, the health and safety manager at Grinnell Mutual. “As a company, we encourage our employees to be active and to increase their activity levels right where they are. A 1k is a great place to start. Our goal is 100 percent employee participation in the 1k on Friday.”
The Healthiest State Initiative will launch statewide on Friday, October 7. As the largest employer in Grinnell, Grinnell Mutual will join local leaders, as well as organizers in Perry, Iowa, in serving as ambassadors throughout the state on how to lead healthy company and city-wide initiatives.
