Grinnell Mutual employees lead company giving

During Grinnell Mutual’s annual United Way fundraising campaign this fall, employees raised more than $37,000 in pledges and donations, up 20 percent from 2010.  The Grinnell Mutual Group Foundation has pledged to match employee donations.

“The donations during this year’s United Way campaign were fantastic.  These results are due to the generosity of our employees who believe, as does our company, in doing positive things to invest in our local communities,” said Grinnell Mutual’s President and CEO Steve Crawford.  “Our employees continue to step up to improve their communities.”

Funds from the campaign will be distributed to 25 United Way agencies, United Funds, and Community Chest organizations in communities where Grinnell Mutual employees reside.

“Each year we set a realistic fundraising goal for our campaign.  This year our employees far exceeded it,” said Barb Baker, manager of advertising and community relations at Grinnell Mutual. “Both our company and foundation are proud to support the organizations associated with United Way.  Many of those organizations don’t have resources to launch a large fundraising campaign, but they do important work serving people of all ages and incomes in our communities.”

Unlike many charitable organizations, the vast majority of donations to area United Ways stay in local areas. To learn more about Grinnell’s United Way and the agencies it supports, visit its website online at www.grinnellunitedway.org
