Indiana manager appointed to Grinnell Mutual Board of Directors

Susan Taggart of West Lafayette, Ind., was appointed to Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company’s Board of Directors to fill the unexpired term of the late Joe Reid.  Taggart has served as the manager of Remington Farmers Mutual Insurance Company since 1994 and is also a licensed agent.  Currently, Remington Farmers Mutual serves 1,400 policyholders with a risk in force of $470 million and a surplus of $3.3 million.

“We’re pleased to welcome Susan to the Grinnell Mutual Board of Directors.  With her past experience in the insurance industry, she will be a valuable asset to the board and to the farm mutual membership,” said Mick Fordyce, chairman of the Grinnell Mutual Board.

Taggart graduated from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kan., before returning to her home state of Indiana.  She has earned her Professional Farm Mutual Manager designation from the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC), served as the president of the Mutual Insurance Companies of Indiana Association (MICIA) and is a member of the NAMIC Merit Society.

“I love the small town atmosphere of the farm mutual industry.  Most of all, I enjoy working with the people—our policyholders, agents, and staff.  We’re like one big family,” said Taggart.

Taggart enjoys spending time with her two children, one of whom works with her at Remington Farmers Mutual as an adjuster.
