Steffen Named Grinnell Mutual Claims Vice President
Phyllis Steffen has been named vice president of the Direct Claims Division at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company located in Grinnell, Iowa.
Steffen’s promotion follows a 34-year career at Grinnell Mutual, where she has most recently served as assistant vice president of Iowa/Wisconsin claims. Her experience includes serving as a Fast Track adjuster, telephone adjuster, subrogation/arbitration supervisor, supervisor for the Iowa/Wisconsin and Southeast claims regions, and director for the Southeast claims region.
Steffen holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters, the Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW) designation from the National Association of Insurance Women, and the Associate in Claims (AIC) designation and Supervisory Management (SM) certificate from the Insurance Institute of America.
Steffen serves on the Greater Des Moines Claims Council, the Grinnell Mutual Group Foundation Board, and the Grinnell Mutual Political Action Committee.
Steffen replaces Mac McDonald, who retired as senior vice president after a 27-year career at Grinnell Mutual.
A native of Brooklyn, Iowa, Steffen and her husband, David, live near Malcom, Iowa and have a daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter.
