When you’re involved in an auto accident, please call our Claims Call Center toll-free at 1-877-467-2252. Or you can contact your agent or file your claim online.
What do I do if I have an accident?
If you have an accident - notify the police or local law enforcement immediately.
Write down the names, addresses, telephone numbers and driver’s license numbers of the people involved as well as witnesses. Also write down the license plate number and state of each vehicle involved.
Do not admit fault. Do not discuss the accident with anyone except your Grinnell Mutual claims representative or the police.
When you contact our claims staff, here are a few examples of questions they will ask.
- When, where and how did the accident occur?
- What are the years, makes and models of the vehicles involved?
- Can you describe the damage?
- What are the names and contact information for the persons involved?
- What are the names and contact information for any witnesses?
- Were the police contacted?
What to expect
Repair choice. We'll work with the repair facility of your choice to get you back on the road.
Rental options. When covered by your policy, we’ll arrange a rental vehicle for you while your car is being repaired.
Additional damages. Should the repair facility discover more damage than was initially observed, your claims representative will issue a supplemental payment to the shop when needed.
