Research is central to what I do as an actuary at Grinnell Mutual. I am responsible for commercial lines ratemaking so I perform rate studies and review industry trends, experience, and regulatory requirements. With good research, I am able to recommend pricing for our new and existing products.
One of my favorite things to do is mentor our interns and new employees. It’s my privilege to work with them—one of many opportunities I have been given as an employee. Over the past ten years, I’ve watched as our Actuarial Services team has helped Grinnell Mutual grow its book of business. My coworkers are experts and they play an integral role in Grinnell Mutual’s success. It feels good to be part of a growing team.
When I’m not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and watching my three kids participate in music, drama, and sports. I like to read and take walks. I also like to be involved in the community—I teach religious education, serve on the parish council and city improvement association, and am a member of PEO.
