I have two roles as a senior commercial underwriter. I work with agencies in northern Illinois to maintain a profitable book of business. I help determine acceptable business and tailor policies to fit the needs of the insured. The other part of my job is monitoring the development of Grinnell Mutual’s House of Worship program throughout our writing territory. I keep my eye on current trends in the market and help our program develop accordingly.
Developing and maintaining relationships with agencies is key to what I do. We really partner together. I credit my time working as a park ranger with the Army Corps of Engineers as preparation for working in a changing environment with a diverse group of people. At Grinnell Mutual, I love helping agencies develop goals and objectives and then cultivating a relationship with them to achieve outstanding results.
In my seven years here, I have found that Grinnell Mutual is what it says. We’re small town. The people here are friendly and honest—I wouldn’t trade working in this environment.
Outside of the office, I like spending time in nature. This could be fishing, hunting or just spending time on a country walk with my wife and two boys. Also during this past year I have enjoyed being involved in starting a church plant within our community.
