Umbrella

Umbrella insurance

Million-dollar verdicts are no longer a rare occurrence. But Grinnell Mutual offers a low-cost way to protect yourself — an umbrella policy.

An Umbrella policy builds on protection you already have, giving you an extra limit over and above other policies and offering better protection for your assets. You can add extra liability protection of $1 million or more (limits up to $10 million are available).

Business

Your current commercial liability policy will protect you up to the limits specified in the policy.

Unfortunately, that might not be enough if you have a serious liability claim and your business or personal assets may be at risk.

A commercial umbrella policy provides coverage for claims that exceed the limits in your current commercial liability policy.

Commercial Umbrella insurance policy features

A commercial umbrella policy is designed to provide you an extra level of liability coverage to protect your business assets. It extends coverage over and above the limits specified in your underlying policies.

  • Broader coverage (in some areas) than primary policies provide, subject to a retention amount
  • Replacement of primary coverage once the primary aggregate limits of liability have been reduced or exhausted
  • Directors’ and Officers’ Liability up to $1 million
  • Potential defense coverage when a claim or suit is not covered by an underlying policy or when the limits of liability have been exhausted on an underlying policy

Commercial Umbrella insurance provides Affordable protection

The cost of the Commercial Umbrella insurance coverage varies depending on your business operations. Many times, the cost of a Commercial Umbrella policy will be a fraction of the cost of your other policies.

Who is eligible for a Commercial Umbrella insurance policy?

Any customer who has all underlying commercial liability policies with Grinnell Mutual may be eligible for a Commercial Umbrella liability policy.
